Things To Pack:
1. Layered, versatile clothing
Wondering what to wear in Tanzania? While Tanzania is swelteringly hot for much of the year, it can also get very cold, plus you’ll need different types of clothes for different activities. Going on safari? You’ll need lightweight clothing in neutral colors. Want to trek Mount Kilimanjaro? You’ll need plenty of warm weather hiking gear. Want to relax on the beaches on Zanzibar? You’ll need swimwear, but you’ll also need to dress modestly outside the resorts, to respect the local culture
4. Medical Kit
While most hotels, lodges and camps in Tanzania will have a first aid kit on hand, it’s always a good idea to bring your own essentials in a small medical kit. You should bring items like pain killers, antiseptic ointment and bandaids, hand sanitiser, electrolyte tablets or powders, strong insect repellent, eye drops and travel sickness tablets.
7. Toiletries
Everyone requires different toiletries, so this packing item is up to you. We do recommend pouring products like shampoos and moisturizer’s into reusable travel bottles, to save space and waste. You might also like to try solid toiletries, like bar shampoos, deodorants, moisturizer’s and toothpaste tablets.
2. Comfortable Shoes
You’ll likely be doing a lot of walking in Tanzania, so you’ll need a comfortable pair of sneakers that you don’t mind getting dirty. If you plan to do any hiking or walking safaris, bring a sturdy pair of boots with good ankle support, and some thick socks. You’ll also need a pair of sandals or flip-flops for lounging by the pool or the beach.
5. Sun Protection
Whether you visit in the dry or wet season, you’ll always need sun protection in Tanzania. You don’t want a sunburn or sunstroke to put a downer on your trip, so bring a hat, polarized sunglasses and plenty of high SPF sunscreen
8. Money Matters
When you travel to Tanzania with us, most of your expenses will already be covered including your accommodation, transport and some meals. However, there are a few things you’ll need cash for like souvenirs and extra activities. It’s best to come prepared with a mix of credit or debit cards and cash on your Tanzania packing list.
3. Day Bag
Whether you’re out on safari or cruising the islands of Zanzibar, you’ll need a daypack to carry everything you need including sunscreen, a water bottle and your camera. Bring a secure bag that’s lightweight and waterproof, and go for one with lots of pockets to keep your things safe and organized
6. Binoculars
Want to make the most of your safari in Tanzania? Bring a pair of binoculars! They’re fantastic for spotting wildlife lurking in the tall grasses, or birds flitting in the trees, and they’re sure to take your wildlife viewing experience to the next level.
9.Entertainment
Tanzania is a big country and you’ll likely experience some long journeys. There’s also usually some downtime during the hot midday sun on safari, and it’s the perfect time to have a nap, read a book, play cards, or listen to some music. Bring some headphones that block out the noise on planes, and an e-reader instead of a bunch of heavy books.
Where Is Tanzania Located?
Tanzania is located in East Africa, Tanzania is bordered by the Indian Ocean on its Eastern Side, blessing us with the beauty of beautiful Island called Zanzibar. South of Tanzania is Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique. North of Tanzania you will find Kenya and Uganda, whilst Rwanda, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burundi can be found to the west.

What is the time in Tanzania?
Tanzania is three hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). This means that there’s no time difference between their summer and winter months.
Is Tanzania safe for me to visit?
Tanzania is one of the safest destinations in East Africa. The locals are generous, friendly and eager to help visitors. However, just use a bit of common sense, don’t flaunt any valuables and you can enjoy the natural wonders, the culture and the people of Tanzania. On a safari, your safety will be in the hands of your guide. Make sure that you follow your guide guidance during wild moment.

August Visiting To Tanzania:
August is a fantastic time to visit Tanzania. The weather is excellent, creating superb conditions to enjoy the iconic national parks, mountains, and archipelagos with pristine beaches. The best way to make the most of these conditions is to combine a safari with a trek or to end a safari with a tropical beach retreat.
Where Can You See Great Migration In August?
At the beginning of the year, the wildebeest used the wide-open plains of the southern Serengeti National Park to give birth to their young. As the months passed, they moved northwest in search of fresh pasture. By August, the large herds of wildebeest start gathering in the northern part of the Serengeti, encountering a significant obstacle that many will not overcome: the Mara River. The river blocks their passage north into Kenya and must be crossed; otherwise, they risk starvation. Consequently, it is possible to witness the river crossings where numerous predators, including Nile Crocodiles, wait for an easy meal.
What Is Zanzibar Like In August?
August is the perfect month to conclude a safari with a few relaxing days on the pristine tropical beaches of the Zanzibar archipelago. The weather is great, with minimal chance of rain, low humidity, and comfortable temperatures. Consequently, you can enjoy touring Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a spice tour.
Here perfect weather conditions also allow for snorkeling, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, and a romantic trip on a traditional dhow to watch the sunset. Visiting the marine parks around the islands will allow you to see superb marine life, including turtles, dolphins, and other excursions.
What To Wear In Tanzania In August?
If you book a safari with Tanzania Experience, you’ll receive a detailed packing list and other guides to help you prepare for your safari. Below, we share our main packing tips, which revolve around keeping your packing light, soft and simple.
- Pack soft, light-coloured clothing with long sleeves and trousers to protect from the sun and insect bites.
- While on safari, brightly coloured clothing, as well as camouflage, dark blue and black, should be avoided.
- Bring warm clothes to wear during early morning game drives.
- Pack hats and shades to protect from the sun.
- Wear closed shoes for game drives and sitting around the campfire at night.
- Pack your swimsuit for a refreshing swim in one of the many lodge pools.

YOUR HOST.
DEBORAH
Founder, Solo in Style
Deborah has always loved to travel and when she found herself suddenly divorced aged 50, her response was to go it alone. It was scary, fabulous, and empowering, in equal measure, and she was instantly hooked. As a solo female traveller over the age of 50, a huge and growing demographic, Deborah felt ignored by the travel industry. This prompted her to create Solo In Style with the idea of connecting like-minded women to encourage and support one another with their solo travels. Alongside a successful 30-year career in marketing, fine wine & culinary arts, Deborah, now aged 63, continues to expand Solo in Style globally to support and encourage as many women as possible to fulfil their solo travel ambitions.
LEVINA
Founder, Women Adventure Africa
Levina has always been at the front line of empowering fellow women through the travel industry. She has been in tourism for more than 10 years and in 2018 decided to open her own company, Women Adventure Africa, with the aim of empowering women to build new connections with other women. It was never easy in a country where travelling is a male dominated industry and now the company is hitting 7 years in business with great success. Levina is super encouraging of other women and pushes them towards discovering themselves and supports many women and girls through her charitable organisation which provides vocational educational, field training and gender empowerment.
